Football Practice Begins August 2nd
New head football coach Paris Mason announced that football practice will begin August 2nd.  Players should report to the gym on August 1st to pick up equipment.  Junior Varisty practice will begin on August 11th and Middle School practice begins on August 16th.  Call Coach Mason at WEHS (266-5483) if you have any questions.

Volleyball Schedule Released
The Blue Devils Volleyball team will begin its season on August 30th at Ridge Spring-Monetta and play a 16 game schedule.  To view the schedule click here

Michael Gainey named to All-State Team
Senior Shortstop Micheal Gainey was named to the Class A Baseball All-State Team by the SC Baseball Coaches Association.  The Blue Devil baseball team advanced to the championship game of the Lower State playoffs where they were defeated by eventual state champion Johnsonville High School 5-4.

Betsy McCarty named to All-State Team
Sophomore Pitcher/Shortstop Betsy McCarty was named to the Class A Softball All-State Team by the SC Coaches Association of Women's Sports.  The Blue Devil softball team advanced to the Class A playoffs where they went 1-2 with a win over Bowman High School.

Johnsonville Defeats Blue Devils in Lower State Championship
Johnsonville High School defeated Williston-Elko 8-7 to win the Lower State Championship and move on to face Lamar in the Class A State Championship.  The Blue Devils defeated Lake View 1-0 on Brett McCarty fielders choice to score Orry Kennedy in the 7th inning to advance to the game.  The Blue Devils were sent to the losers bracket by Johnsonville who won 8-7.

Baseball Team Defeats Branchville
The Blue Devils defeated Branchville High School 9-3 on Saturday to open the Class A Lower State playoffs.  With the win the Blue Devils will face the winner of the Johnsonville vs. Lake View game on Tuesday, May 4th at Williston-Elko.  The game will begin at 6:00 pm.   Admission to the game is $5.
 

 
Candice Hughes and Ar'Braysha Williams Qualify for Lower State Track and Field Meet
Candice Hughes placed third in the Discus at the Region V-A track and field meet to advance to the Lower State meet at Coastal Carolina University on May 1st. Ar'Braysha Williams won the Triple Jump and placed second in the Long Jump to qualify in both events. 
 
Jake Lucas selected to play in North-South Baseball Game
Senior Pitcher/Outfielder Jake Lucas has been selected to play in the North-South Baseball game June 12 at Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC. Ken Cribb of Hemingway High School is the head coach of the South 1A/4A All-Stars and is assisted by Ray Canaday of Irmo High School. Lucas becomes the 5th Blue Devil to be selected to the game. Tony Harris (1997), Robert Hays (1995), Lacy Williams (1998), and Chris Grooms (2002) also participated in the North-South All-Star game.
