Tdap Shots to be Given at WEMS for rising 7th Graders

Williston Elko Middle School will be working with The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to provide students with the Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis).  By law, students MUST show proof of receiving the Tdap vaccine at the start of their 7th grade school year or they will by subject to exclusion from school.  Nurses from DHEC will be coming to the school at 8AM on March 26 to administer the Tdap vaccine.  You must read, complete and return the letter that will come home with your child no later than March 4th if you wish for your child to receive the shot at school.  If your child has already had the vaccine, they are not required to do so again.  However, you must send proof of the immunization to the school for our records.  Please take advantage of this convenient opportunity to have your child vaccinated.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Nurse Eichman at the school or you can visit the website www.scdhec.gov/Tdap.
