I am a graduate of Clemson University (Go Tigers!) with a degree in mathematics. I taught in Spartanburg District #7 for four years before moving to Elko. Then I taught at Blackville-Hilda High School for two years. After staying at home for seventeen years, I started teaching at Williston-Elko High School. In 2011, I became the WEHS bookkeeper and then I returned to the classroom in 2016 to teach ninth grade Algebra I.
I am married to Mike McCarty and we have two children and two grandchildren. Our son, Brett, finished his doctorate of theology at Duke University and is teaching at Duke Divinity School. Our daughter, Betsy, is teaching music at Barnwell Elementary and is also music director and pianist at Blackville First Baptist Church. I’m very involved with my church, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and I enjoy spending time with my family.
Anytime students need extra help, I am available after school on Monday and Thursday until 4pm. Please don’t hesitate to ask for help. Also, please contact me if you have any concerns or problems at 266-8024 or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org . My goal is to help each student develop a desire to learn and master the math skills in this class. I also hope to positively influence and encourage the students to achieve and to be the best person they can be.
