Course Description:

The course is designed to give students a thorough background in the basic accounting procedures used to operate a business.  The accounting procedures presented will also serve as a sound background for employment in office jobs and preparation for studying business courses in college.  Students will become acquainted with the principles of double entry bookkeeping including the preparation of financial statements for sole proprietorship, partnership and corporate businesses.

Course Standards:

The course standards for Accounting are based on the standards found in the Career and Technology Education Course Standards. Students who successfully complete with a passing 60% or higher will have demonstrated the ability, concepts, knowledge, and skills required to meet those course objectives.

Grading Scale:    

    A = 90-100

    B = 80-89

    C = 70-79

    D = 60-69

    F = 50-59

40% Class work/Tests

35% Quizzes/Projects/Daily Logs

25% Final Exam

 

 

Class Procedures and Class Rules:

Students have received a “Student Handbook” outlining daily operations and procedures followed at Williston Elko High School. Class Rules are posted on the wall of the classroom as well as below:

 

  1. Follow all rules in the student handbook.
  2. Be prepared.
  3. Show respect.
  4. Be on time to class.
  5. No food or drink in the Business Lab

Missing/ Makeup and Late Work Policy—

It is the student’s responsibility to ask for any missing work and or make up work due to absence from class. The student has five days after returning to class to make up any missed assignments.
