3rd Grade Wayne Thiebaud Cakes & Cupcakes
3rd Grade Students recently studied the art work of American artist Wayne Thiebaud. Wayne Thiebaud is an American artist who worked in the ’60s. He is often associated with the Pop Art Movement because of his choice of subjects (objects, symbols of consumerism, cakes, candies, chewing gum, hot dogs, cosmetics, & toys). Thiebaud, however, has always refused to be inscribed in an artistic movement. In the 3rd grade classes we were inspired by his work to draw our own cakes & cupcakes, imitating Thiebaud’s painting style with oil pastels. The results are excellent, bright and one-of-a-kind!
