The Guidance and Counseling program at Kelly Edwards Elementary School provides developmental activites and opportunities designed to address the needs of all students by helping them acquire competence in the knowledge of self and others, in identifying their educational goals, and their own career development. The Guidance and Counseling program focuses on the South Carolina Comprehenisve Developmental Guidance and Counseling Model area of:
- Learning to Live( Personal/Social Development)
This content standard provides the foundation for personal growth. They enhance the personal, social, educational, and career development of the individual. Students acquire skils to foster relationships with self, others, the family and the community.
- Learning to Learn(Academic Development)
This content standard guides the student to get the most out of each learninig situation. Academic development includes desired learning goals that require the student to have a command of decision-making, problem solving, goal-settng, critical thinking, logical reasoning, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Learning to Work(Career Development)
This content standard provide the foundation for the development of skills that assist students in making a succesful transition from school to the world of work, and from job-to-job, across the life career span.
