Attached is a Superintendent Search survey that Williston School District 29 would like all stakeholders (community, staff, teachers, students, and administrators) to participate in.  Your input is important to us.  Results will be reported to the School Board on February 20, so please take a moment to participate in this 3 question survey prior to February 7, 2018.  There will also be paper copies at the school.

Red Ribbon Week Red Ribbon Week

Hello Everyone,

Next week is Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 23-27). The theme is “Be All You Can Be, Be Drug-Free.”

Here is the plan:

Mon.: “Shade out Drugs!”- Students can wear their favorite shades. Bracelets will be in your boxes to hand out to students to wear for the week. Students are encouraged to wear the bracelets all week long. Student Council members and I will walk the halls during class changes and students who are participating in the daily theme & wearing their bracelet could be rewarded with treats/prizes.

Tues.: “Sock It to Drugs!”- Students can wear their craziest socks. “Be All You Can Be, Drug Free” pencils will be in your boxes to hand out to students.

Wed.: “Team Up Against Drugs”- Students should wear their favorite college/sports attire to show they are focused on their goals, not drugs. Suckers with drug-free messages for each student will be in your boxes.

Thurs.: “Drugs Are Tacky”- Students should wear their tackiest outfit in support of leading a drug-free life. Ribbons with a drug-free message for each student will be in your boxes.

Fri.: “Red Out Day”- Students should wear red in support of leading drug-free lives. Students will be able to sign a banner to show their commitment to lead a drug free life.

Updated School Closings Weather update

Williston School District 29, Barnwell School District 45, Barnwell School District 19 will be closed for students and employees Monday, September 11th and Tuesday, September 12th. 

Barnwell Elementary School will open as an emergency shelter at 10am Saturday morning. 

As always, we would like to extend gratitude to our county’s Emergency Management officials and thank them for all they do to prepare us for emergency situations like this. Our priority is the safety of our students and families, and we encourage everyone to take measures to prepare for the potential impact of this storm.

WEMS will host a Parent University for our 6th Grade Parents on August 8th at 6:00 pm.  We apologize that the date has been different a few times.  Mr. Sweet and others will be available to share important information that will help you transition to the middle school.  There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and register your student.  This Parent University is only for the 6th grade parents.

WHEN: MAY 22, 2017 @ 6:00 PM

Parents, WEMS would like to help you prepare for your child’s transition to the middle school. The faculty and staff will provide information that will assist you before school starts and on those first few days. You will receive information on our arrival and dismissal procedures. Teachers will also discuss the curriculum and provide other important information to assist with the transition to middle school. There will be time for you to ask questions. WEMS wants your child’s middle experience to be the best it can be.

8th Grade Graduation will be held on May 25, 2017 at 9:00 am in the WSD29 auditorium. Graduation will begin at 9:00 am.

8th Grade Prom will be held on May 19, 2017 from 7:00 pm-10:00 pm. The location of the 8th Grade Prom will be the canteen. The school will be sending home more information.

Parent University - Take A Walk in Your Child's Shoes Parent Night

Parents are cordially invited to attend Williston-Elko Middle School's technology night event: Parent University. Parents will get a chance to take a peek into their child's school day by attending four individual sessions and making a final stop in the cafeteria for dessert and coffee .  The event will be on Tuesday, April 11, from 6-8PM at the middle school.  Information should have gone home with your child at the parent/teacher report card conference on March 23rd.  Additional flyers will be sent home next Tuesday as a reminder. For more information or questions, please contact Mrs. Ulmer or Mrs. Toole.

WEMS' Junior Beta Club had fun celebrating National Beta Week during the week of March 6.  In this picture, they are taking a break with Mrs. Portune after picking up liter around campus.  You can also go to the Junior Beta link to view a video the betas created about the club.
