Williston School District 29, Barnwell School District 45, Barnwell School District 19 will be closed for students and employees Monday, September 11th and Tuesday, September 12th. 

Barnwell Elementary School will open as an emergency shelter at 10am Saturday morning. 

As always, we would like to extend gratitude to our county’s Emergency Management officials and thank them for all they do to prepare us for emergency situations like this. Our priority is the safety of our students and families, and we encourage everyone to take measures to prepare for the potential impact of this storm.

Early Release Severe Weather

In preparation for severe weather tomorrow, Williston School District 29 will implement an early release of all students on Wednesday, April 5th.  All afterschool activities have been canceled.

Kelly Edwards Elementary School will release at 10:50 am.

WEHS and WEMS will release at 11:00 am.

Please ensure that someone is home to meet your child. Be alert to changes in weather conditions tomorrow.  This decision in made with paramount concern for the safety of our students.

Spanish Spanish art

Spanish III Honors students - created their own mola designs similar to those found in San Blas, Panama that the Kuna Indians are known for. These designs, the Kuna Indians place them on shirts, blouses, dresses, purses, coin holders, etc..

English 3 Field Trip Eng. 3 FT

The English 3 classes were able to go to Fort Moultrie and Charleston today. Here is a picture from their adventure.

Work Keys testing work keys

All Juniors will be taking the Work Keys test. Your child received a letter stating the date he or she will test. Be sure to review this information.

Encourage them to be on time the day of testing, eat a good breakfast and get plenty of rest!

Basketball Player of the Year

Congratulations to Keshawn Toney on being named Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the District 7 Officials Association. He will recognized at a banquet on March 12th at SC State University.

Parent Surveys

All Juniors were given a parent survey on March 1st. These need to be completed and returned to guidance. We will have an incentive of a pizza party for all students that return a completed parent survey.  Thank you in advance!

Illness Protocol

ILLNESS PROTOCOL:  Students and faculty with a temperature of 100.0 F or higher are required to stay home from school. Students and staff may not return to school until the fever has been gone for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.  Students and faculty may not participate in school or school activities if they are experiencing vomiting and/or diarrhea.  

For a complete listing of conditions that are listed on the SC DHEC “School Exclusion List” visit http://www.scdhec.gov/Health/docs/School_Exclusion_List.pdf or contact your School Nurse.  A copy of the District's "ILLNESS PROTOCOL" is available on the District web page and in the student handbook. 

***Remind your child to wash his/her hands after toileting, coughing, sneezing, and before eating. Encourage him/her to cough and sneeze into a tissue. The best way to prevent the spread of disease and illness is thorough hand-washing. Use a hand sanitizing product if soap and water are not immediately available.***

National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM) is observed every February around the world, and is sponsored by the American Dental Association® (ADA) and their public oral hygiene resource – Mouth Healthy™. The impetus behind NCDHM is the goal of early adoption of proper oral hygiene techniques by our young people. Children, from infants to toddlers to teenagers, must be taught the importance of good oral health, and the techniques to achieve it. This helps ensure a solid base for them to build a lifetime of strong dental health on.

ACT test

All juniors must take the ACT, which will be administered March 7-10th. It is extremely important that your child be present and on time the day of the test. Also, they should eat a well-balanced breakfast.and get plenty of rest the night before. Your child will receive a letter with all the details on February 22nd. Book Fair

Ring Ceremony

The Ring Ceremony will be held December 13th at 6:00pm in the District Auditorium.  Information will be sent home Monday, December 5th to all students who purchased a ring.


Shrek the Musical

The W-E Drama Department is proud to announce they will present SHREK THE MUSICAL for public performance on Feb 3 and Feb 4 at 7:00 PM.

The house will open to the public at 6:15. Admission is $8.
Children 4 and younger are free but must sit in an adult’s lap.

Tickets are available from cast members or by calling WEHS at 266-3110. Seats will not be reserved, nor are they allowed to be held for latecomers. Seats sold at the door may be limited so be sure to purchase your tickets beforehand to ensure you do not miss this dynamic production. SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig with Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, and Music by Jeanine Tesori. It was originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, originally Directed by Jason Moore and Rob Ashford, and includes “I’m a Believer” by Neil Diamond. SHREK THE MUSICAL is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com

Aaquejia Graham (Air Force) and Mya Fagans (Army) attended the  Military Honor Cord Ceremony in Columbia to honor South Carolina’s graduating seniors who have chosen to enlist in our armed services or military college or universities.  It was held Friday, May 12th at the Richland School District Two Auditorium. Molly Spearman, State Superintendent of Education and Major Allen Gleaton, Deputy Commander of Recruitment and Retention, SC National Guard were both part of this exciting program.

All Seniors are encouraged to attend the FAFSA night we are hosting on Thursday, February 16th at 6:00 pm. It will be held in the computer lab.

We will have several representatives from USC Salk there to help assist you as well as answer any questions you or your parents may have.

If you plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college, you must complete FAFSA.

Your parent or guardian must attend in order to complete the process.  Be sure to let them know to bring either their 2015 or 2016 tax information.

At least ONE WEEK prior to submitting your fafsa, you must do the following:

visit www.fafsa.ed.gov website. Create a FSA ID for both the student and the parent.

May 19: All fees must be paid

May 19: Class Day at 1:30pm

May 21: Baccalaureate at 6:00pm

May 22: Athletic Banquet at 6:00pm & Senior Walk at Kelly Edwards 12:45

May 25: Graduation practice at 8:00am. Senior picnic to follow practice

May 26: All credits must be earned to walk in graduation ceremony
